Regarding running...<br />I would say doing the following should take care of sluggish running.<br /><br />- Rebuild the carb.<br />- Replace the points and condensors.<br />- Install new spark plugs.<br />- Adjust the mixtures.<br /><br />These are relatively easy things to do on your motor and should improve your performance.<br /><br />Regarding speed...<br /><br />It really depends on the prop you are using and just how heavy your fiberglass boat is. I have '56 30hp I used to run it on a 14.5' aluminum fishing boat (not a row boat). The fastest I ever got that rig going was about 24mph. These motor are known for having great torque (hole shot) but not great speed, which is pretty much what I experienced with mine. If I was to make a "seat of the pants" guess I would say that motor should reach somewhere in the low to mid 20mph range.<br /><br />MG
