Used boat purchase

I purchased a 1977 19'ft v bottom starcraft with a 1978 mercury 115 hp motor for $1500.00. The motor was frozen so I then purchased a 1989 evinrude 110 hp motor installed for $1500.00. Did I get a good deal? Is this a good purchase for a first time boat owner?
