My boat got into sea grass the other day and the
engine died quickly and wouldn't start again for 1-2 hours.
Do You think it's possible sea grass had come into the exhaust system and let the engine die ?

nordy,

More than likely, you overheated it.

I would replace the water pump and check the head bolt torque.

Djohns19,thank You for Your advice.
What makes me doubt Your theory is the following experience I had in Croatia before.
I drove into a platic bag and the motor died.
But I was successfull in starting.
Nevertheless the overheat system had been activated (max speed:2000 rpm) but only for around one minute.
Do You consider it possible the engine would take 1-2 hours to return to normal operation in the case of sea bag ?
