1989, 88hp Johnson, Water Pump (impeller)

Never a problem with this engine previously. When starting and running for approximately 5 minutes using water hose and "ear muff", water ejecting from ports became excessively hot. I shut down immediately. I suspect subject pump and/or impeller problem. I do not have a repair manual. Basic instruction to check pump, remove and/or replace impeller would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your homework assignment for today is to;<br />1- Get a service manual<br />2- Replace the entire pump as a kit, not just the impeller<br />3- Service the T-stats<br />4- Service the head gaskets <br />5- Service the deflectors<br /><br />Let us know how you make out! Good luck!
