1980 Evinrude 2 cylinders starter problem <br />Then starter is making a different sound I will try explain.<br />When I try to start my motor if it don't start and with the key off <br />It will make a little noise after wards like it is trying to get un stuck <br />from the fly wheel are some kind of little whining noise for about 3 seconds. <br />I was thinking that I should take apart and clean with some electric cleaner<br />and seeing how it looks in there maybe it's dirty and I can get by by doing this.<br />Is there a kit to rebuild this starter because there expensive.

First off, your bendix may be sticking causing the starter pinion gear to get stuck in mesh with the flywheel.<br /><br />Try lubricating it first.<br /><br />With the key OFF.<br /><br />Turn the starter drive bendix by hand. You will notice that it will "walk" up the shaft when turning it one way and not the other.<br /><br />While turning it, lubricate it with WD-40.
