My manual is unclear on how to do this.I replaced my head gasket and am trying to replace the impeller. I separated the shift rod at the water inlet screens and dropped the gearcase. I took the water pump apart but I can't slide the water pump plate over the keeper nut on the end of the shift rod. I assume that I need to unhook the shift rod at under the powerhead??Also the water tube came out of the powerhead.Do I need to use a sealer when re-installing it.Thanks in advance, Andy

I did one once. If I remember right you need to slide the nut up and remove the plastic compression sleeve then the bolt will come off. Putting it back together is just reversing the order of disassembly. You don't need any sealer on the water tube, just make sure the rubber grommet at the powerhead is in the proper position and the water tube slides into it without displacing it.
