I have an old 70 hp Johnson that I noticed gas leaking from into the lake, I opened the housing and started it then noticed that fuel was spitting out of a hole behind the fuel filter housing. This hole appears to be there for a reason but this fuel leakage just started this season (I don't recall seeing so much fuel in the water before). Is this some kind of overflow? any advice would be great as this motor is already a pig for fuel, I can't afford to waste gas or pollute our great Canadian lakes.
Thanks,
Eddie neitzel

Hi Eddie....

I closed your first post since it was a duplicate. If ya' need to edit your post you can do so by clicking on the edit post button. Also, please post the year of your outboard. It helps.

By the way, if fuel is leaking from the hole near the back of the fuel pump, it's most likely a hole in the fuel pump diaphram. Post a year so we can be sure. Thanks.
