It seems no one could answer my question about exhaust in the powerehead so I took the time to figure it out my self. I mixed just a bit extra oil into the gas to acause it to smoke. Put it in a drum and started it. and yes smoke does come up into the powerhead and as soon as I replaced the cover it started skipping again. I do not know yet were the leak in the exhause is but as soon is I find it I will post it here for you guys.

Re: exhaust in the powerhead cover solved

I haven't seen your earlier posts, but it may be a blockage in the exhaust system rather than a leak. Exhaust smoke collecting under pressure in the leg can sometimes find its way up under the cover. If you can test this motor in a drum, I assume it's a small model. If exhaust is coming up into the engine compartment from under the block (around a bolt, for example), you may need to remove the powerhead and replace the gasket it sits on. That aside, though, it's more likely you have a blockage somewhere in the route the exhaust takes to exit the motor. Remove the leg and inspect all the passages, including the exhaust ports on the rear of the leg. You might find the remnants of a mouse nest in there (no kidding -- been there, done that.)
