35 hp Evinrude spark plug

Hi there,

I have replaced the spark plug with a champion

L77JC4 (the old plug was L77J4). Now the engine won't start. Is is because the L77JC4 is not the right plug for this engine?

What year 35 hp are we talking about?

That engine calls for QL77JC4 gapped at .030".See your first post for my 2 cents on your starting issue.

Thank you very much. Since I do not have spark plug gauge, is there other way to set up the gap correctly?

Standard flat feeler guages work for me.

The spark plug was dark and not so dry.
