New to this forum.

My 2001 Johnson 70 hp is running sluggish. Here are the symptoms.... Doesn't like to idle or go forward at slow speeds. Motor goes dead. Does well when I give it some RPM's either at idle or faster speeds. I put new spark plugs in the engine but not sure what gap they are suppose to be. Anyone know? What else could it be? I've used gas treatment and I always make sure it's primed well prior to use. It's a great engine just needs to be tweaked.

Any input appreciated.

Jay - Virginia

Assuming that this is a two stroke 70 hp the recommended plugs are QL78YC gapped at .030".
