Tool advice?

18 hp '65 fastwin,18502 upper cyl crankshaft seal is bad. What tool is needed to pull cam? The guy at the marina tells me usually the bearing under the seal goes + wrecks the seal true ? The motor sat for a long while just started once a yr b4 I got it and I figure that the seal may have failed because of age. thanks

Hi Skunked<br />You shouldn't need a tool to remove the point cam. They just slide off. You may need to coax it a little with a scrtew driver. True, when bearings go bad they take out the seals. More often than not the seals fail for other reasons,age being one.
