I have an alarm that comes on when I turn the key to the run position. When I first got the boat there was a short beep when I went to this position and then it shut off when I continued to turn the key to the start postion. I had the boat out the other the day and the battery cable came off while I was in the water. This alarm came on and stayed on. I found the problem and put the cable back onto the post but the alarm is still there. I replaced the bad connection and the cable should not come off again. I also went through all the wires near the battery and made sure there were not any other wires lose or corroded. The alarm is still there and I'm not sure what to do next.

desmoines,

That alarm is telling you something.

My first idea is that it is overheating.

When was the cooling system last checked? Impeller changed? Thermostat checked?

Thank you for your reply. The Impeller is working well, and I have not yet checked the thermostat. Because the alarm comes on before the motor is started I have been told that there is a good chance that the positive battery cable coming off while the boat was running may have caused a wire going from the throttle to the motor to have shorted to ground. I am going to check this out and then post what I find. In the mean time feel free to give me any more suggestions.
