89' johnson no start

Every summer after sitting for nine months my motors have trouble starting. But once they start, they run great and start easily the rest of the summer.However, this year one of the motors will not start. Usually after turning them over for a few minutes one plug will fire and then eventually crank. No plugs are getting fire, or sometimes one. Why has it gotten no spark and then will get spark and then have no problems for the rest of the summer, and why does it not work this year? :( thanks
