Greetings,

Outboard: Johnson Sailmaster
Year: 1987
HP: 6
Model Number: J6SLCUD

This engine runs fine when pushing a light fishing boat. However, it will die when I push my 2500 lbs sailboat between 1/3 to 1/2 throttle. It does not rev up when it dies. It simply dies, even if I back off the throttle. If I quickly throttle through to WOT, it works fine. Idle is fine also. I think the problem occurs during the transition from low to high speed operation. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

Thanks,
Kevin

How can I troubleshoot this?
