help 1970 40 hp evinrude doesnt run right

help my boat bogged out in the water last year and now it wont run unless the chokes fully on. changed gas,plugs,cleaned carb(something rubber on the center jet came off does it need it?)help me gettin frusraated :confused: :confused: :confused: :mad: :mad:

gaddpole<br /><br />Definitely sounds like fuel restriction, since choking improves performance. Quote. "Something rubber on the center jet came off." Don't know what that could've been. Trash of some kind? Did you fully disassemble the carb? Time for a carb rebuild? I had an old fuel hose with bulb break down and start spittin little pieces of rubber into my fuel. Pump some gas out of the tank into a glass jar and have a look.
