I just got a 14' Glasstron from my brother with a 1964 40hp Evinrude electric shift (40463). Ever since he got it out of the local shop a few years ago, it seems to have little power at high throttle like a high speed jet is misadjusted. All we can find to adjust is the idle mixture and the choke. The previous owner said the engine was "zippy" or quick on this boat. Any ideas? <br />Now, when I got it this spring, after sitting a year or 2, the enging feels stiff but not frozen up, much stiffer than a '67 40 I also have. I tried spraying oil in the cylinders, but it didn't help. What can I do for this? Or should I just try starting it? Dad's '72 Johnson 65 started right up after sitting a few years.
