89 140 johnson acting up bad

I have a 1989 140hp johnson outboard that won't idle. If you get it started and catch it just right it runs great at high RPM. From 2500 RPM and up it runs great but from aprox. 1500 or lower it caughs and quits. Last year I replaced the CDI and VRO pump. Recently I have check the timing and compresion and have cleaned the carbs. The compresion and the timing were both fine, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i would go through all the recirculaion fittings and valves as the manual says. <br />do you have an omc manual?<br />when tearing my 88 down to transfer parts to another powerhead, i found bad fittings and valves.

Hey 2K BOAT, Where can I get an OMC manual? I have a 89 140 V4 looper, I just bought a solec and it sucks!

i got mine off of ebay. saved some $$. any omc/bomb dealer should be able to get it for you.
