70 hp Johnson compression

I did a compression check on my 1980 johnson 70hp. The top two cylinders read 130# and number three read 125#. I pulled the head off too inspect the cylinders, and number one and two have some mild scoring(just enough to catch my finger nail). Do I need to correct this situation now or wait until boating season is over. The main reason I'm asking is because the compression seemed to be good.

Thanks for the advice
Will Vaughan

The compression is good, Will. I'd button it up and maybe check it again next year. Meantime, run it like ya stole it.

c/6

Hooty

I wuz about ta post nearly the same thing untill something popped up here at tha house...namely the cat that's been gone fer a week and a half.

Shoot Will, with that kind of compression, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. Cylinders running 5psi off aint bad. Maybe decarb it and run it, as Hootymeister says, like ya stole it.
