Evinrude 110 problems

Hello all. I have an 86 110 Evinrude model# E110TLCDC. The problem I am having is that it stalls out at WOT after it is held there for about 2 minutes it will also die at less than WOT but it takes a little longer. The motor always restarts but doesn't idle too great. Once I get it going again most of the time I can go wide open again, and repeat it all over again. I have fixed a couple problems. One problem was two pinhole leaks in the line coming in to the motor from the tank and going to fuel filter. Test drove again and still had same problem. I also found the line from the choke going to the carb was leaking I fixed that but never test drove because I am assuming this should have nothing to do with it. The hand primer stays hard for hours now so I am pretty sure all leaks are fixed. I also pulled all the plugs and they were in good shape nice and dry. Sorry about being long winded but I am trying to cover everything. Thanks in advance for any advice...

Welcome. It sounds like your carbureter float needle vales may be sticking closed. The bowl runs out of gas at WOT and then gradually fills when you stop. You may need a carb rebuild.

Thank you for the response Jack. I have had quite a few people also say bad coil and one said power pack. Do you think any of these could also be a possibility? Thanks again.

Possibly a gas tank venting problem? You could eliminate that possibility by running with your gas cap off.

Thanks Brew but I already tried that. I should have mentioned that earlier. I also cleaned out the fuel filter, forgot that one too.

Hi. How's Cumberland these days?

Sounds to me like your fuel pump might be failing. Good enough for partial throttle, but not enough for WOT. Just my opinion, but a fuel pump rebuild kit is pretty cheap.

Re: Evinrude 110 problems

Hello all again. I have another question it seems that my battery is bad I thought it died from all the cranking I did on the water but it seems it is just shot. Anyway my question is would the battery being bad screw with the overheating switch on the motor I mean if it was'nt getting enough voltage or would the motor be kicking out enough volts to keep this operating correctly? Thanks again.
