I have a 1981 Johnson 140 HP outboard motor. The problem I am having is it will idol for a few minutes then cut off. It will stay running if I push the choke for a few minutes then I have to do it again. When I put it in gear it will cut off immediately. Can someone please help. :confused:

gator300.<br />That sounds like the name of a Nascar race. <br />Welcome to iboats.<br />My first thought is dirty carbs. How many rpm is the engine idling? Have you tried pumping the pressure bulb and see if it keeps on running? Might be the fuel pump(s). How does in run at wfo?<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty
