my 1976 evinrude 15hp took about 50 pulls to start today. after that it started every time. Anybody know what might have caused this? Thanks
Stoner

Re: hard starting

a wild guess, ;) your fuel tank primer bulb isn't working, the 50 pulls allowed the engine fuel pump to pull enough fuel in the carb to finally start the engine, maybe check the fuel flow at the carb with the line disconnected and pump the primer bulb to verify fuel flow. Hopefully this advice is worth more than you paid for it. :)

Re: hard starting

I just bought a new primer bulb today so I don't think it could be that. I checked the fuel filter and it seems to be fine. any more suggestions?

I'm thinking like Slowly. No fuel. There's a posting at the bottom of this page about defective primer bulbs. If that ain't it, try choking it 'till it starts, then turn the choke off. When an engine's cold, you've gotta fill the intake manifold and crankcase with fuel before it'll run. That's quite a bit of fuel.

c/6

Hooty
