Default 1965 evinrude 75hp starflight bad clutch dog and forward gear

My forward gear and clutch dog have worn and no longer provide forward motion. Has anyone heard of re-machining the worn areas? Think it'll work ok? Maybe welding in the material that wore off then machining to original? Mine has only two dogs and I was wondering if there were three dog parts available. Are there any cross reference books for match up purposes like in the used auto business? And, Does anyone have an expolded view of the lower unit for this motor? I found that neat chocholate milk fluid in the gear case. Thanks; Steve.

Thanks; I have learned that I won't be able to weld or grind the gears due to the surface heat treating involved. Hard surface but soft inside. I'd be afraid to try it on this powerful of a motor. I am still in need of an exploded view of the lower unit. Thanks, Steve.
