It is actually lower unit oil or black sludge/oil. <br /><br />If it is the latter, it is ok. It is oil that is not burned and goes out the exhaust port-prop hub.
Jun55<br /><br />Drain your lower unit and check the lube in it. If it has changed to a milky colour or if water comes out you have a seal gone in the lower unit.
