Evinrude 15 HP, 1980, Stalling Problem

I'm having a problem keeping this engine running without squeezing the fuel bulb. The carb, fuel filter and fuel lines are clean. Sometimes it will idle ok for a while then stall. Will not run at high speed for more than 5 seconds unless the the gas is forced into the pump. Is the hole in the block between the fuel pump mounting holes supposd to push out air? When pulling on the started rope, it does not.

Also, any recommendation on a good repair manual will be greatly appreciated.

Any suggestions?

I think your fuel pump diaphragm is due for a replacement. Squeezing the bulb to keep 'er running is a classic symptom of a bum pump.
