I have a 1987 200hp evinrude. and new to boating. I have no idea if the motor runs. What is the procedure for firing it up for the first time after being put up for winter.

Thanks

If the motor was fogged properly in the fall,I usually remove the plugs and squirt some fogging oil in each cylinder and then crank the motor. The oil will exit the cylinders. After cranking, put the plugs back in ,change the fuel water seperator, put new gas and start it up.If you changed the lower gear oil in the fall ,you are done. I would replace the waterpump and thermostats before I went very far since you don't know the last time they were changed.
