I bought a boat with a 40hp johnson RKL-24 outboard. I had to find a throttle shifter to place on it. I am trying to do the wiring of that shifter but am having some problems. It seems the hydro-electric drive (shifter) will not go into gear when the throttle lever is pushed forward or reversed. I think its a wiring problem. Does someone know how.... or where I can find the wiring diagram without me buying a book on the thing? Any help would be much appreciated.

It shouldnt be a hydro-electric shift. Just electric. If you have a control box (Johnson) with a single lever and its for a hydro-electric the switch must be changed.

Good luck!
