My motor was running excellent one day then the next day I had problems starting it and keeping it running at idle. It started smoking more than usual also. At times it seemed like it was running faster at full throttle than normal. I am sure the mix is right and I put new plugs in it several days before. any suggestions?

Pull the spark plugs and examine them. Does one look different than the other? While you have them out, do a compression test and tell us the numbers. While the plugs are out check to see if you have a strong blue spark by grounding the plugs and turning over the starter.

Thanx for your advice. I really appriciate you taking the time to reply to my motor problems. I checked the plugs and they had good spark. I don't have a compression gauge so I couldn't check the compression. I ran new fuel throgh it and it seems to be running fine now, but I have another question. My electric start doesn't want to work when my motor isn't running right. It works fine when it is. Does it have anything to do with the compression?
