carb cleaning

I have a 1988 evinrude 25 hp electric start outboard. When it is running at almost wot it runs fine but when slowing it sputters and cuts off. I've been told the carb is dirty. My problem is I can't figure out to get it off. The starter is in the way of one of the carb studs.

I guess you'll have to pull the starter.No big woop.I suggest ,however to use a shop manual to assist you through the carb procedure as all are a bit different.Might want to inspect the reeds also.
