I accidentally left the key on on my 73 evinrude 125 starflight. I heard that this is a no no. Please tell me it will be ok. It completely drained the battery. I recharged it and am afraid to try to start it. Could this damage the powerpack or something else?

I think the only thing that switch does in the "on" position is apply power to the accessories. In the "off" position it grounds the power pack. You didn't hurt anything except the battery.

c/6

Hooty

If you had a Diehard, you would still be able to start the motor.

If memory serves right I had a coil melt down when the ignition was left on overnight...1965 V4 75hp Johnson. I may be wrong but it seems this was the cause of the meltdown. I replaced the coil with an automotive type and it worked fine.

Leaving ingnition on could also melt your choke coil, happened to me. About a hundred dollar bill for a new one.

Did the same thing, except for a week. Recharged dead battery and all was fine.
