1999 Johnson FICHT pass or buy?

We are thinking about buying a 1999 Ranger with a 1999 Johnson FICHT. We have heard bad things about the 1997 and 1998 engines, but it depends on who you are talking to in regards to the 1999.<br /><br />I love the boat but am concerned about the engine, we look forward to hearing your comments.<br /><br />Pass or Buy?

The pre-Bombardier V6 Ficht engines had/have serious problems.<br /><br />The V4s seem to be okay.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

Make sure the model number has an "O" suffix. Thats the newer style. Have a dealer run the serial number and hook it to a computer, that will tell the whole story.<br /><br />Good luck!

Thanks, DHadley.<br /><br />Provided the upgrades have been done, and it has a zero.<br /><br />OK deal?<br /><br />Test drove the boat last Saturday and she ran great! All options worked fine, looks like she was used in tournements, very clean.<br /><br />Also, what happens if it does not have the zero, but all upgrades have been done, still a good engine or not?
