Leafs<br /><br />I mounted a 6 horse so that on the highest notch the cavitation plate is level with bottom of boat. That way you have another 3 or 4 positions to go further into thw water if needed. Retraction is not that important as the motor swings back an locks like the main motor. Make sure you use a heavy backing plate inside boat to stop bolts from ripping through when trailered.
