I have just completed my first rebuild on a 1990 40 hp Johnson(J40ELESR) thanks to some help from some of you guys. Anyway, I've got the engine mounted , the linkages reattached, and am in the process of disabling vro(will pre-mix from now on)and placing lower cowlings, etc. My question, the timing should stay the same right? I put everything back exactly like it was before dissasembly. Also, I'll be attempting to crank this new rebuild this evening, any pointers or tips to look for for this procedure? Thanks in advance!

Re: new rebuild

the timing should stay the same but it would be a good idea to check it and make sure it did not move.you should do the full sync. and link. by the book
