I swear I just posted this but I do not see it...anyway..I have 1978 85hp Evinrude...I cannot get the linkage set correct for the timing linkage/carblinkage...I have not idle I have good mid range and top end.The only way I can get it to idle it to pull up on the high idle lever.The screw for the idle adjustment does not reach the block it set about 1/4" away from it...I do have a factory manual and now I am confused as to why....Thanks

I saw your post awhile ago but with another subject and name.Use your manual and do a link & sync. If you've never done one before, reading about it may sound a little confusing but after you get into it and see what you're trying to make happen, it all makes sense.c/6Hooty

Are you dsconnecting the throttle cable as step #1 in your sync and link?

No it does not say that....But I do see what you are getting at....

Got it....The key was removing the throttle cable then adjusting it to everything else.Thanks...
