I bought a 12 years old Evinrude 40HP VRO.

At wintherizing 4 years ago, the dealer vrote on the report: New VRO suggested soon.

Why ? The VRO functions. Do I have to buy a new, or can I rebuild with the Maxrules parts kits ?

Is 10 years the estimated average safe lifetime of a VRO unit. ( this is type 1 )

Re: VRO Life cycle

If you intend to use the VRO, I would replace the unit for peace of mind. Well worth it to rebuild or replace it before it's number comes up! 10 Years is Par!

Re: VRO Life cycle

If I change my VRO pump , can I put on a 4 wire version in exchange fotr the three wire version.

My engine has low oil flow and low oil at the tank warnings.

Is it a straight plug in job or am I better just getting a 3 wire one ?
