Any V6 starter up to mid '90s will work.

c/6

Hooty

Re: starter

Check out this website-www.dbelectrical.com. I looked at NAPA and my dealer for a starter last summer and I got one from these guys for $139. My dealer wanted almost $300 and NAPA's was $220. Not one problem with my new starter and it has a one year warranty. It's a small company and they will treat you right.

Dutch

Re: starter

Outboard starters can be rebuilt ,see if you have a car Altenator/Starter sevice near you,I rebuild them and give my customers a 6 month warranty on them, cost is about 68.00 (as long as their core is good),if not then look for a v4 starter 78-89 should work, trim and tilt motors can also be rebuilt, as long as the frame(the outer casing) is not rusted out,

DB.Beachum,
Good advice! Did that same thing myself on another Motor I had. Cheap and never had another problem with it!
