I am attempting rebirth of a 1961 V4 starflight 75hp Evinrude. Located in the , comparitively, resource poor wastes of Australia. The discovery of this forum lends me much heart. Could one of you advise me as to the correct torque for the head bolts. How critical is the condition of the head gaskets? Can they be re-used if not obviously damaged?

Hi Stuey,
You can re-use the head gaskets again, and usually can get by with it if you coat both sides with gasket sealing compound. I'm not at work at this time so I can't give you the recommended head bolt torque, but I'm sure someone else here will jump in and give it to you.
Let us know how it comes out
