on my 1997 evinrude 6hp there is this back box with a (!) lable on it in front of the carb. what in ell doesit do, do I need it or is it extra wieght!???
Hello Sailboaty,<br /> If it's what I'm thinking it is, it's called an air silencer. It dampens the noise of the reed valves and helps large debris from entering the throat of the carb.
