if its 1934 would the engine cover be made of fiberglass an paint be Lt.blue&white the motor looks alot newer name on cover evinrude fisherman ser#4028-e10840 hp is 5 1/2 yours or anyone else that knows what year this motor is would be greatly appreciated big joe

My book stops at 1964.No numbers close to yours.<br />Your motor seems to be newer than 1964. thats about all I can come up with.

BigJoe..... I assume you're getting those numbers from a plate that located on the port transom bracket? If so, take a good look at the powerhead and try to find a quarter size core plug (looks like a small freeze out plug). If you find it, let us know what numbers you find there.

Joe Reeves went out and found plug #5402B E10840 I hope this will help I want to thank all you old salts for all the info about this motor and my 15 hp that i have taking power head off to replace rubber grommets thanks big joe :)

BigJoe.... Okay, it would appear that the mystery is now solved! Previously you were giving the model number of "4028".... but now we have the true model number of #5402B. I can see where the confusion jumped in. The engine as indicated by number 5402B is a 1965 5hp Evinrude.
