motor is a model 40555. which is a 1975. every picture I see the motor is a different color. my motor is blue and the last picture I saw the motor was a green color. just looked at a 1973 on Ebay and it is the same color as mine. can anyone supply a link to a picture, or tell me what is the correct color. Kiya is crazy name for the forum but the only one I could come up wit when I registered. my sieberian was laying beside, whose name is Kiya. hence the name.

What does it really matter what color it's supposed to be unless you're trying to repaint it to the original color to claim it's new and in mint condition. If it needs painting paint it the color you want! How's black or international orange?
I believe that the blue on those particular motors was the same 1973-1976.
Here's a picture of a '74 40 long shaft & 25 short shaft from my brochure. The 1975s look the same except for the decals on the cowl, with a dark blue wide band on top with white "EVINRUDE 40" lettering, underneath that a thinner medium blue, and underneath that a red pinstripe. Note the Evinrude 20 shown, a Canada-only model.
