need to stop at half throttle before WOT

My 1980 Johnson 70HP needs to spend some time at 1/2 throttle before I can kick it into full throttle. I have rebuilt the carbs but this did not seem to help this problem. Any other suggestions as to what else to check for?

Hi Ernie,<br />There is two, or three small holes just in front of the throttle plates. These holes are the intermediat jets, they are supposed to add a little more fuel as your comming off of idle there-by eliminating the dead spot. I know that you said that you rebuilt the carbs, but you have to make sure that fuel comes out of these holes are you will always have a dead spot comming from idle to WOT.<br />Good Luck
