This is a cool site, and I have gained great info here on another motor, Thanks.<br />OK, this motor was bought in a yard sale, runs great, but had water leaking into lower unit apparently. I dismantled it, and inspected for problems. The ring gear looks perfect, however the pinion has a few very, very small pits on one tooth. It does not look like it ever failed, or slipped. My question is should this small and very expensive pinion gear be replaced while I re-seal the lower unit??
