1997 Evinrude 200 Ocean Pro stalling.....

I am having trouble when I shift from drive/reverse to neutral. The engine dies. It seems to run fine at all other times. I was wondering if this is too lean a mixture or a possible shift switch issue...all responses welcome. I am also (for the time being) working without a manual for this motor. Any on-line diagrams out there....thanks...manual is an the way.
BTW carbs not EFI

The shift kill switch is typically a stalling culprit on the motors that have them.

Hi Behrtrax,
It sounds like a shift switch/idle speed problem. The shift switch is supposed to make the engine run rough to relieve the pressure between the clutch dog and gear to help ease shifting when comming out of gear.
Glad to hear that you have a manual comming.

Yep, it was the switch. I disconnected it and the problem disappeared. So I would assume it is sticking. Off to by a part. Thanks
