Default Idle mixture setting Evinrude 70

Does anyone know the basic idle mix setting for Evinrude 70hpr 1990. Acording my manual the Rude 70 shouldn´t have any mixture screws but my has.Have had some problems with smoke at low RPM. Gone better when syncing the carbs. But still a bit uneven and smokey at idle.

SpeedSelect... After setting the adjustable needle valves as mentioned below, start the adjustment with the center carb, then the lower, then the top. Repeat as needed until you're satisfied with the performance.Initial setting is: Slow speed = seat gently, then open 1-1/2 turns.Start engine and set the rpms to where it just stays running just above idle (slightly fast). In segments of 1/8 turns, start to turn the S/S needle valve in. Wait a few seconds for the engine to respond. As you turn the valve in, the rpms will increase. Lower the rpms again to where the engine will just stay running. Eventually you'll hit the point where the engine wants to die out or it will spit back (sounds like a mild backfire). At that point, back out the valve 1/4 turn. Within that 1/4 turn, you'll find the smoothest slow speed setting.

Thanks for your reply.Shall I turn one mix screw at the time in until it backfires (sneezes) and then turn it out again.starting in the order you mentioned or shall I all the time keep them at same setting? Is it importent to make this adjustment with forward gear in and freefloating, or can I make it with gear in neutral?

Seat, then turn all of them out as mentioned. Then do one adjustment at a time, starting with the center carb (the settings will never be identical anyway). This can be done either on a flushette or in the water.
