lower unit removal

How do i remove lower unit from 1973 evinrude. I dont know where to disconnect shifter linkage. Thanks for your help. P.S. motor is a 85 horse

On my 83 50 hp, I had to remove the starter and then I could see the shift shaft bolt. Had to remove this one to drop the l/u. <br />Don't know if this applies to your boat, but maybe it'll help. <br /><br />Jason<br /> :D
