First Mate type of question: How important is it to cover the motor in the summer? I mean, when it's in the driveway, I'll keep it covered, but we pulled this "used" boat & motor home in a thunderstorm and I wonder if it did any damage? Also, when on the lake, do I need to worry about covering it every time it threatens to rain?

Thanks everyone....

I keep my engine covered to keep the sun off but with the cowling on, it's pretty waterproof. Pulls air from the bottom.

c/6

Hooty

I'm with Hooty on this.

Water is not an enemy to your outboard with the bonnet on. Sun is.
