I have a 1957 Evinrude 5.5hp Fisherman with the water intake on the exhaust port. Also just above the cavitation plate is an aluminum cover plate with 4 louvered holes in it. If you face the louvers forward it seems they would scoop more water in, if backward ?? Plate will screw on either way. Does it matter which way it faces? I have been using it facing forward because I figured the more water the better. Thanks for all the good info on this board.
