77-140hp johnson evinrude won't start

starter turns engine over but no spark to any of the 4 plugs made sure plugs are good do not have a neon tester but have a volt and ohm meter is there another way to check the power pack charge coil or sensor coil or any other ideas what to check for. Any help appreciated thank you.

Hi, John.<br /><br />I would start by ensuring that neither the kill switch nor the Neutral Start switch are disabling the ignition.<br /><br />If you don't have a manual, get one. As our friend, Steelspike says, "If you work on an outboard without a manual you have a fool for a mechanic".<br /><br />Let us know what you find. :)

Thank you I do have a clymers evinrude manual. But I don't see a procedure for how to check the kill switch or the neutral switch. Please advise.

Yeah it was the kill switch that was keeping the boat from starting thank you for your help.
