I just got a boat that has low compression in one cylinder. after pulling head it was evident that the steel ring part of the head gasket had split right at top edge of bore. thus letting cumbustion shoot into water jacket surrounding cylinder. and also letting water get into cylinder. other than the piston being 'clean' from the water- everything appears undamaged. I will check bore with gauge, but I am hoping to get by with just replacing head gasket. also- any one know year of this motor?
