Had a heck of time with the 86 Evinrude 25hp twin electric start. Wouldn't run for more than a couple seconds and die. Tried plugs, cleaned the carb. While draining the float bowl, the fuel didn't look right. It separated into two layers. Drained the tank and removed the access cover (this was one of the infamous autoblend tanks, long since removed) on the tank. Water was present, along with a chunk of something that looked like wax. Maybe a 1/4 cup or so. What was that stuff? Put fresh 50/1 mix in the tank and it fired right up. First time I have ever had water in the fuel, but of course its the first time my brother in law filled the tank. I think there is a connection.
