1988 johnson 40 hp vro

i have a 1988 4o hp vro i had the motor rebuilt and replaced the vro last summer. i can only get 1/2 power out of it for 30 seconds then it cuts out and starves for gas. i choke it and it will pick up briefly? i had it bored to .30 over and the carbs have been cleaned.<br /> :confused:

Howdy, Lead Slinger.<br /><br />You may have a failing fuel pump. Try pumping your primer bulb when it is trying to die. <br /><br />If you are CERTAIN that both of your carbs are gum-free, a fuel pump overhaul is quick, cheap and easy.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

Hi JB<br /><br />I do not know if I can just overhaul the fuel pump<br />the motor has a vro pump not a regular fuel pump.
